The City Chase is an unique urban adventure!
The City Chase is a urban adventure that requires participants to exhibit teamwork, resourcefulness, determination and the ability to make decisions on the fly as they search for ChasePoints scattered in unknown locations throughout the city. Each City Chase event starts with teams of two receiving a clue sheet detailing a variety of physical, intellectual and humorous challenges, designed to push comfort zones. The challenges are designed to test Mind, Body and Spirit. To conquer this 4-6 hour urban event, teams will run, walk and use public transit to navigate their way throughout the city, while calling family and friends for help, accessing the Internet, and even employing assistance of total strangers. The first team to complete the required ChasePoints and cross the finish line WINS...After only two seasons, City Chase became the largest "Urban Adventure" race series in the world!
History of City Chase:
In the summer of 2003, the reality TV craze had people watching The Bachelor, Amazing Race, Fear Factor, Survivor, American Idol and The Apprentice. However, everyone could only enjoy these experiences as spectators, with participation limited to the lucky few who passed the demanding auditions, talent searches and personality assessments. It was time to create an opportunity for everyone to experience these challenges first-hand as participants, with or without the cameras rolling.
The first City Chase event was held in Toronto, Ontario in October 2003. Based on the overwhelming interest from participants, sponsors and media, a National City Chase Series was developed for the 2004 summer season. The next year the City Chase Series was launched in eight major cities across Canada attracting over 5, 000 participants.
In 2005, in only its second year, the City Chase Series was voted as “The Best Sporting Event in Canada”, became an episodic TV series and was recognized as the World’s Largest Urban Adventure Series. In 2006, as City Chase continued to expand in Canada, it also expanded into Australia, England and France.
In 2007, the first US event was launched in Chicago with over 1,000 participants making it the largest City Chase launch event in the world. The winning teams of two from their nine respective countries (Australia, Portugal, France, England, Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, and the USA) raced around the clock for three days at the 2007 World Championship in Rome, Italy battling a variety of physical, intellectual and cultural challenges, designed to push comfort zones and to test mind, body and spirit.
2008 is again a year of expansion and growth as City Chase extends to fifteen countries across the globe with regional events and a national championship in both the US and in Canada.
Through the success and growth of City Chase, tens of thousands of participants around the world are now experiencing “reality” first hand as active participants.
