2010 US Championships - Orlando FL

2010 marked the third US Championship, after successful and memorable events in New Orleans (2008) and Quebec City (2009) The T-Mobile City Chase presented by BlackBerry is very proud to announce that Orlando Florida will host this year’s National Championship.

With its international recognition as the top family tourist destination, a tremendously culture, outstanding activities and the support provided by Orlando Tourism and the Sonesta Downtown Hotel has our host hotel it was a natural choice for the 2010 City Chase US Championships.
 
 
Over the past five months (June-October), The 2010 City Chase US Series attracted over 5,000 Chasers across the United States who truly enjoyed a unique and memorable urban racing experience, they pushed their comfort zones as they tackle a variety of physical, intellectual, adventurous and humorous ChasePoint challenges… all while discovering their city!

Part urban obstacle course, part scavenger hunt; this year's US Championship included qualifying events held in Denver, San Diego, Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, New York City and Austin. The winning team from each event will represent their city in the Orlando City Chase National Championships, where they faced an epic adventure that took them out of their element and truly test their resourcefulness in unfamiliar city, and ability to work together as a team… and as a family.

Winners from the eight regional states include:
Team Denver – Chris Baker and Ryan Ruddell
Team San Diego – Andy Almonte and Tyler Runner
Team Seattle – John Zobel and Greg Adams
Team Philadelphia – Amanda Neuber and Brian McCann
Team Chicago – Rob Dugas and Jeff Sorensen
Team Dallas – Andrew Ireland and Beau Taylor
Team NYC (and only Female team) – Christina Birkhead and Victoria Folkerts
Team Austin – Eli Cohen and Nicole Bohnsack


After over 30 hours completing events such as – Marine Bootcamp @ the Citrus Bowl, Paddle Boarding on Lake Ivanhoe (www.orlandopaddleboard.com), eating a 4LB Hot Dog (the Widow Maker), cleaning hotel rooms, rappelling 18 stores, blind parallel parking, Go-Go Dancing, Sleeping in a Cemetery, Wakeboarding, Raising money for charity… just to name a few. Team Denver: Chris Baker and Ryan Ruddell crossed the finish line first and drove home with All New 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Crossover Utility Vehicle (and some bragging rights as well of course).

Sonesta Downtown Orlando was our host hotel and provide both our teams and head office staff with an outstanding experience. Their hospitality was above and beyond. I mean they allowed us to rappell down their 18 story hotel! How is that for memorable.

  Camp Kesem - Our charitable partner in Austin, we wanted to continue to share the love and spread the message about Camp Kesem. Teams faced a challenge on day 2 where they were given materials to raise funds for Camp Kesem (over $500 was raised in 2 hours via Team Denver, Chicago, Dallas and Philly).
